Starfield: Starborn Walkthrough (2024)

After completing All That Money Can Buy in Starfield, players will have left the planet that houses the corruptible city of Neon, only to find that the worst is yet to come. A new ship has emerged in front of them, and this ship is demanding that the player hand over the Artifact that they just had a difficult time securing back on the surface of the planet. Yet, how does one handle this situation in Starfield?

The Starborn mission is one of the main quests in Starfield, and it’s also one of the shortest, but most compelling. More questions are provided on the existence of alien life, or life beyond that is known to humans in 2300. These ‘Starborn’ pose an interesting question and a grand threat.

Dealing With The Helix

Starfield: Starborn Walkthrough (1)

The Helix does not let players simply leave the orbit of Neon. Instead, they are locked in, and no matter what players say to the alien vessel, they aren’t going to let players leave unless they surrender the Artifact, or die. There are a few things the player can do to deter their assailant and a few things they probably shouldn’t do.

The first choice of action is to surrender the Artifact, but it is highly recommended that players do not do this. They can jettison the Artifact, letting it enter the possession of the Starborn. This will not make the Starborn any less hostile in future encounters, and the crew members of Constellation will hate that the player was strongarmed into surrendering something clearly so precious.

The second choice involves Attack, in which the player can open fire on the ship and show them human hospitality. This is also a pretty bad idea, as the Helix holds a lot of health for its hull and shields, as well as some powerful attacks. The Helix can also go invisible and teleport, making it a difficult assailant to follow and destroy. Even if players are winning the fight, the Helix will escape, and players won’t get anything like XP for their hard work. It’s probably not a good idea to attack a ship that the player knows nothing about, or, if the species inside are alien or something else.

The third and best option is to use the Grav Drive. Walter implores the player to power up the Grav Drive and simply retreats. Although many players don’t like the idea of escaping from a fight, this is the most logical answer. The ship is more powerful, and players want to prove that they are not hostile if this is in fact an alien vessel. The best way to do that is to simply use evasive maneuvers to avoid the missile lock and laser fire of Helix and wait for the Grav Drive to power up.

Talk To Noel

Starfield: Starborn Walkthrough (2)

With a new threat looming in the galaxy, players should immediately embark to the Lodge and talk to Noel. Talking to Noel will allow players to show their data records, and the Constellation members will be able to see the ship that the players saw. This leads to more questions on what the ship is, and why they do not want Constellation to find the Artifacts.

Players can discuss with the crew what this vessel is, or what it represents. Is it aliens, time travelers, extradimensional beings, or God’s angels? It’s profound and intriguing, and players can finish it up by talking to Sarah about the possibilities.

Add The Artifact To The Collection

Starfield: Starborn Walkthrough (3)

To conclude the mission, players just need to place their new Artifact piece on the table at the library of the Lodge. This will complete the mission, granting players Credits and XP so that they can further upgrade themselves, and advance into a better rank to better fight the unknowns of space.

Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
