Why is Vudu now Fandango at Home? ›

This is to better align all our products under one name—and reinforce Fandango as your one destination for entertainment at home and at the theater. Vudu users will experience no disruption to their service, and their library and collection will remain unchanged.

In 2010, Vudu was sold to Walmart. In 2020, Fandango Media acquired Vudu for an undisclosed amount. While initially maintaining the Vudu name due to brand recognition, Fandango Media nevertheless rebranded the service under the Fandango brand in 2024.

Vudu, which is part of NBCUniversal's Fandango movie ticketing and entertainment division, will be renamed “Fandango at Home” in the coming weeks. The name-change is a reversal for Fandango, which in 2021 phased out the FandangoNow movie and TV storefront — and replaced it with the Vudu name.

Fandango has decided to completely rebrand Vudu, a streaming video service that's been around for over a decade, to Fandango at Home. “We will still have the same great films, shows, deals, and bundles, plus your library will stay right where it's always been,” the company said in a post on X (via 9to5Google).

All your movies and TV shows from Vudu will remain in your Fandango at Home Library. Nothing in your account will change, however you will now have the option to link your Fandango and Fandango at Home logins.

Fandango At Home has no monthly subscription fee. In addition to the selection of free classic movies available to anyone, individual movies, TV series seasons, or TV series episodes can be purchased one at a time. Only movies can be rented.
