Happy New Year! ♥
When was the last time I posted an update announcement? Two months ago?
Starting today, I’m going to be making update announcements at the start of every month (and with that, an increase in the program’s version number). HDoujin has changed a lot of over the past couple of months, with tons of new supported sites and program features. I’m sad to say that the stuff this announcement was about isn’t ready just yet, but expect to see some big new changes coming along soon.
That said, there are still quite a few exciting changes that have lead up to this announcement:
Image Formatting Options
It is now possible to control how images are saved using “Settings > Downloads > Image Format…”. You can now specify maximum dimensions for your images (good for making them easier to view on smaller screens), trim extra white-space, and/or convert all downloaded images to JPG to save storage space (if you’re worried about that sort of thing).
Access Reader Directly From Downloader
You can now use any reader directly from HDoujin Downloader by right-clicking any download and selecting “Open in Reader”. You can specify the file path to your favorite reader under “File > Options”, which is capable of using relative paths (which is useful if you store HDoujin and your reader on a flash drive or other portable medium).
New Formatting Tokens
Various new tokens have been added for formatting folders and image file names, including %CHAPTER#%, %VOLUME%, and %LANGUAGE%.
Many existing features have been improved dramatically (including the Cookie Editor and Scheduler) to make the program both more powerful and easier to use. For a full list of changes since version 1.14.9.32, see the changelog below.
On another note, I’m sure some of you noticed the downtime yesterday. Luckily a good friend helped me get that sorted out, so as you can see, we’re back online again! Note that if the main site (this one) is ever down, you can still access the old one that’s hosted with WordPress until everything gets fixed (I still respond to all comments/messages originating from the old site).

Hey guys. As most of you probably know already, I’ve been back for a while, making sure that everyone’s feature requests/bug reports are taken care of. I can proudly say that there’s only one feature that’s been requestedthat I haven’t yet implemented (but you should see it later today).
Also, you may have noticed that the XP version is no more– the two versions have finally been consolidated into a single unit! No longer shall there be a gap between what updates are present in each version.
Now, here’s the big news, and I’m definitely going to get some flak for this, but hear me out: Soon, HDoujin Downloader will no longer be entirely free. Depending on when you’re reading this post, the changes may already be in place.
But don’t get too disappointed just yet.
I’ve made sure thatthe currentversion is completely up-to-date with everyone’s suggestions/comments. This version will remain freely available on the site, so you don’t have to worry. However, I won’t be updating this version anymore unless it’s rendered broken or unusable for some reason (I wouldn’t be so mean as to just ignore that).
As for why I’m doing this: I put a lot of time and effort into making sure HDoujin Downloader works as perfectly as possible. I know how hard it is to find a decent doujin/manga downloader that does everything you want it to, which is why I take requests so seriously. And I love doing that. And I want to keep doing that. But like everyone else, I’ve got debts and loansto pay off, and working on this constantly is becoming less and less viable. This isn’t much of a shock, but very, very few people choose to donate (which is fine; I mean, not everyone can, which is why I’m willing to make exceptions for people who can’t pay [more on this later]).
If you have donated, regardless of the amount, just send me an email and I’ll give you the paid version for free. The same goes for anyone who contributed to the project (translation, etc). But if that doesn’t work for you, and you want your contribution revoked for any reason, let me know.
The only limitation that will be present in future releases of the free version will be that you’re limited to 25 downloads perday. All other features will remain enabled.
“So then, why should I bother updating? I’ll just stick with the current version.”
Good question. Future versions will, of course, be kept up-to-date as sites change, and I’ll continue to add support for more and more sites, in addition to new features (the paid version will already have a few extra things when it’s released). It will also (optionally) come with Kuroneko Reader and Manga Database, two new programs I’ve been working on that work exactly like their nameswould imply. I’ll post more information about them at a later date.
“What if I can’t use PayPal, or my country of origin/personal circ*mstances make it impossible for me to pay?”
Email me. We’ll work something out. If it’s just a matter of being unable to use PayPal, let me know what you can use, and we’llgo from there.

Sorry to everyone I kept waiting for this update– I always try my best to fix all problems within 24 hours, but I was working on a couple of new things that I needed to finish before putting out another release, which caused a little bit of a delay. Also, I only just noticed that some of your guys’ comments got marked as spam– don’t think I was ignoring them! If I take too long to respond and you think I didn’t see your comment, don’t hesitate to email me.
On that note, when reporting a problem to me, please provide a link to whatever you’re having trouble downloading. Often times it’s a problem with a specific set of webpagesrather than the entire website, and sending me a link makes it so I don’t have to download a bunch of things to find out what the problem might be.
Anyway: The biggest new feature present in this update is the ability to use your g.e-hentai.org account when downloading, something that was requested a long time ago that I only got around to doing now. It’s not perfect at the moment, but it’s usable. Please let me know if you have any problems.
In addition to that, I’ve also added something extra that has been heavily requested. I won’t state directly just what that is right now for certain reasons, but I know a lot of you will appreciate it if you figure it out.
Lastly, I know I say this a lot, but thank you to everyone for your support so far. I love getting bug reports from you guys, because every bug fixed brings this tool one step closer to being perfect– not to mention all the pleasant acquaintances I’ve made through such interactions. ♥
