Brooklyn Park was settled in 1852, and it has grown into the sixth-largest city in Minnesota. It is a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis and it is a second-tier suburb as well. It has a population of nearly 80,000, and it's known for its parks and trails. One of the well-known trails is the Rush Creek Regional Trail.It's designated as a Tree City USA community (and has been for 18 years), and it's been awarded the Tree City USA Growth Award for 11 years as well. In addition to the trails and parks, it has a nationally-renowned golf course called Edinburgh USA, and it has hosted several professional golfing events.Brooklyn Park is known as a vibrant community that is near enough to the cities to appreciate the amenities of their own city. Brooklyn Park Then And Now
In the early 1800s, Brooklyn Park was under the Missouri Territory along with the Dakota. The government allowed settlers to settle the area in 1852, and it became Brooklyn Township in late 1853/early 1854, named so after the settlers from Michigan who established the township. In 1860, two parts of the south split off and called themselves Brooklyn Center and Crystal. The remaining section stayed as Brooklyn Township and eventually, Brooklyn Park. It incorporated as a village in 1954 and became a city in 1969.The city is proud of its farming roots, and it bought the Eidem homestead in 1976 to commemorate those roots. The Eidems first homesteaded in the 1850s, then bought their 39-acre home in 1894. They farmed and lived there until their deaths in the 1950s. The city bought it in 1976, then opened it to the public under the name the Historic Eidem Farm in 1979.Today, Brooklyn Park is known for its parks and trails along with for its growing population that is multicultural. It is welcoming to people from all different backgrounds.

Brooklyn Park is an off-leash dog park that allows our four-legged friends to run around freely and enjoy a nice summer day in the park. They can play with other dogs or just enjoy racing around in the sun. There is an area for small dogs to play as well as a lot of open space in which they can just enjoy themselves. There is a small fee for dogs that don't have a Brooklyn Park licensure.

Central Park is a nice place for members of the community to gather whether they want to play tennis or softball, or maybe just take a leisurely walk. There is a playground for the younger children to enjoy, and there's plenty of space for dogs on a leash to enjoy as well. The park is lush and green in the summer, and it's the perfect place to enjoy a nice summer afternoon.

Environmental Park Area is a park for dogs to romp and play off-leash. Dogs, like humans, need to stretch their legs and run around to their hearts' content from time to time, and they can do that here. They can make new dog friends and enjoy running free on the green grass with the wind in their ears. There is a small fee if your dog does not have a Brooklyn Park pet license.

Crazy Cajun is all about the Creole food. It's owned by Jimmy Nguyen who is also the chef. He's from Houston, but he spent some time in Louisiana, and he decided to bring that flavor to Minnesota. He opened the restaurant in 2015, and it's a favorite of several Vikings players. He brings some of his Vietnamese background into the cooking as well, offering Boudin Eggrolls as an appetizer. The decor is minimalist yet contemporary, and the service is friendly. The menu includes Cajun Gator, Dun's Special Po-Boy (The Works), and a Seafood Platter. They also make you a customized seafood boil if you request it. The food is plentiful and spicy (especially for Minnesota), and you can order it to go.

Fat Nat's Eggs was opened in 2008, and it's the second of three Fat Nat's. It has a very casual and relaxed atmosphere in a nondescript strip-mall, but the food more than makes up for it with its tastiness. The staff is cheerful and friendly, and they are eager to answer any questions you may have. They serve breakfast and lunch, and their fare consists of hearty American classics. The menu includes Huevos Rancheros Con Papas Favorito, Fat Nat's (omelette), Chicken Cordon Bleu, and burgers, and they have GF/DF options as well.

They are known for their ginger beer, which they sell in bottles and jugs. They have an online store as well, so you can enjoy the flavors of Africa in your home.

The Tater Daze Festival is sponsored by the City of Brooklyn Park, and it's three days of fun for everyone. There is a parade on the first day in Noble Sports Park, and a Spud Run & Kids Fun Run in the same park on the second day. The evening activities plus the activities on the final day are at the Community Activity Center and include food, live music, teen activities, and so much more.
