Today (also called The Today Show) is a daily American morning television show that airs on NBC. The program debuted on January 14, 1952. It was the first of its genre on American television and in the world, and is the fifth-longest running American television series. Originally a two-hour program on weekdays, it expanded to Sundays (currently a one hour program) in 1987 and Saturdays (running for two hours) in 1992. The weekday broadcast expanded to three hours in 2000, and to four hours in 2007.
The show is broadcast from the street level. People usually line up on 49th street, on the southeast corner, directly behind the anchor desk. Since it's a public open crowd location, they don't give regular tickets out.
The Today Show's studio is on ground-floor level at 35 West 48th Street (Between 5th and 6th Avenues) overlooking Rockefeller plaza. Just outside the studio each weekday many eager tourists wave signs and hope to get on television and show the world and their friends they have made it to NYC.
“If you are not worried about the show selling out in advance, it is best to wait [until it's] closer to the show,” said Seidman. “It truly depends [on] if the show is in high demand or not, but resale concert tickets tend to go for a discounted price the day of the show.”
The TODAY Plaza is directly outside of Studio 1A – and dubbed our “window on the world.” Guests are able to peek inside to observe the live TODAY broadcast. Cameras will feature the Plaza audience throughout the show, and our TODAY anchors plan to make an appearance outside during the broadcast.
The TODAY show films at Rockefeller Center in Studio 1A at 35 West 48th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues. If you want to stand outside as the show is filming, fill out this form. TODAY films weekday mornings, and people should arrive at 35 West 48th Street between 6:15 a.m. ET and 6:30 a.m. ET.
Fan Passes are limited and available by advance request. Guests who receive them will be notified by email before the scheduled concert date. Guests who do not obtain a Fan Pass can still attend the General Admission line the morning of the concert, and those fans will be let in if space allows.
