What is a RTMP URL? The RTMP URL, or server URL, is a unique web address that you need to deliver your live video broadcast to a streaming platform. You need a RTMP URL to set up a RTMP stream, and you can usually find it in the settings of the streaming platform you're using.

Once your event is created and configured, select Next on the top right corner of the page. This will take you to the live preview page, which will default to the Webcam view. Select the Connect (RTMP) tab to get your RTMP URL and Stream Key.

RTMP Default Port

This is the default port for RTMP (Real Time Messaging Protocol) encoding. With an RTMP encoder, our service is set up to try to use ports 80 or 443 if 1935 isn't open, which is why most should be fine.

Today, even though the RTMP protocol is no longer being implemented for last-mile delivery (replaced by HTTP streaming), using an RTMP encoder for contribution (first-mile) is still a go-to for many content producers. This is because many platforms accept RTMP streams and convert to ABR HTTP streaming.

The standard method of setting up an RTMP live stream requires at least one server for your streaming software and a connection to a separate content delivery network.

A streaming URL is a web address used to deliver live video content during a livestreaming session. It allows viewers to access and watch the livestream in real-time.

In short, a stream key is a special code that allows OBS to communicate with a streaming platform and send your video content to be live streamed. Each streaming platform has its own unique stream key, so in order to link OBS with your preferred platform, you need to find this key in your account settings.

Obtain the RTMP code by accessing https://stream.twitch.tv/ingests/. Chose the RTMP code that corresponds to the geographic location closest to your potential audience. So, for an event designed for the Spanish audience, for example, choose the point of publication associated with the city of Madrid.
