The Borough of Point Pleasant Beach is located on a barrier island. In addition to being bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, the Manasquan Inlet and River, and the canal; the Borough contains lakes that are tidal in nature; therefore, the entire Borough is subject to flooding.

Size and type of crowd -- In the summer months, Point Pleasant is completely overrun with daytrippers and beach home-renting vacationers. The beach itself near Martell's Tiki Bar or the Jenkinson's theme park area is PACKED, even on weekdays. Get there very early if you want a decent spot near the surf.

For family-friendly beachside fun, it's hard to beat Point Pleasant Beach. The expansive beach is kept crystal clean, and the Boardwalk is great for kids (of any age) with dozens of rides along with games of chance, some of the most competitive miniature golf at the beach and Jenkinson's Aquarium.

Point Pleasant Beach lies immediately to the east of Point Pleasant borough, an entirely separate municipality within Ocean County. The borough's boardwalk is approximately one mile long, spanning the coastline from the Manasquan Inlet at the north to New Jersey Avenue in the south.

Point Pleasant Beach has both public access and private beaches. The southern end of town is comprised of a public access beach. There is a small fee to get on the beach and lifeguards are present form 9-5 each day.

New Jersey is world famous for its boardwalk beaches and Atlantic City casinos. These main attractions help the city draw 27 million tourists every year. But the “Diner Capital of the World” also has finger-licking eats around every corner.

The river beaches are open from mid June to Labor Day, with lifeguards on duty daily from 9AM to 5PM. Badges are required for everyone older than 12. Single day badges cost $1 and can be purchased from the lifeguards. Seasonal ($15) and senior ($10) badges are available from Boro Hall.
