A significant update has been implemented in Old School RuneScape, marking the most substantial change to Woodcutting in the past decade.

Our intrepid investigator intends to delve into the matter on the very first day of release to determine whether the Chiller skill has been enhanced or compromised.

As players progress beyond the initial woodcutting levels, they find themselves divided into two distinct camps: the highly efficient 2-tick players and the more relaxed, AFK-oriented. From a personal standpoint, woodcutting emerges as the most suitable AFK skill to train on mobile devices. It requires minimal attention while allowing simultaneous focus on other tasks, such as day jobs.

So, what modifications has Forestry brought to woodcutting?

Firstly, a significant change has occurred in the despawning mechanism of trees, impacting the majority of trees within Runescape. Previously, the depletion of a tree occurred probabilistically after acquiring a log from it. This depletion was also influenced by groups of players engaged in collective woodcutting endeavors.

In the new forestry system, teamwork is encouraged. Notably, there is a hidden boost for players cutting simultaneously—a plus one boost for each player, capped at plus 10. As soon as one player initiates chopping, the tree enters a state of depletion, and this duration remains unaffected by additional players chopping simultaneously.

The objective is to obtain as many logs as possible before the time limit expires. Thanks to the plus one boost, players can now achieve a higher log yield per hour, consequently earning more experience points.

Players will encounter new distractions and diversions that offer enticing rewards, experience points, and monetary gains. However, these diversions might pose a challenge during AFK training and prove particularly harder for mobile players.

For those seeking monetary gains while woodcutting, the addition of the log basket proves beneficial. It can hold up to 28 logs, effectively reducing the frequency of banking trips by half.

In response to player requests, Jagex has added unique items from the Forestry to the collection log. Obtaining these items will unlock them automatically if you already possess them. Otherwise, you can purchase them from the Forestry Store to unlock their entries.

Given the community’s fondness for plugins, it was developed quickly, ensuring it is warmly welcomed.

Some events occur naturally, while others require at least one participant to possess the necessary item in their forestry kit. The difficulty and experience gained from events scale according to the number of players present.

Rising Roots
