Capernaum was the center of Jesus’ ministry. It was there that he performed a number of his miracles and healings; it was there that he taught and formed his disciples. In Capernaum, Jesus taught in both the local synagogue and in people’s homes.
It was a small town situated on the main road that connected the region of Judea. For the Archdiocese, Capernaum will serve the same ends. Here you will be formed as a disciple of Jesus Christ in the local church and in your home. Here you will encounter Christ, and journey with him along the road of discipleship.

Why do I need to have a Capernaum account?
Capernaum is the new tool of the Archdiocese Galveston-Houston for Pastoral Ministries and the Catholic Schools Office that will deliver, manage, and track selected training and formation.
Your Capernaum account will allow you to register for courses offered online/virtual and in person training offered by several pastoral ministries and the Catholic Schools Office. You will be able to submit external training, view your transcript, get training recommendations, and connect with other learners around shared interests.
Capernaum will help many volunteers and church/school employees to more efficiently manage their ministry formation and help employees enhance their professional development.
What are the advantages to Capernaum?
With Capernaum, you will be able to access and register for available training and formation courses at your convenience.
You can view and register for available training, request a training, be assigned a training, or submit an external training for approval.
Reports will be available for tracking training and formation.
Will I still be able to attend in-person training?
In-person training is an essential part of ministry formation and professional development.
We will still be providing live training's known in the Capernaum tool as Instructor Led Training's (ILT’s). We are moving towards is blended training, where some aspects are offered online and others are offered in-person.
Will all my previous trainings show up on my transcript?
You will eventually have access to your entire training and formation history with the Archdiocese. Anyone who has taken a course with us in the past 10 years will have their entire record uploaded.
In the case of Catholic school employees, professional development records are kept by the employee’s school site; therefore, the Catholic School office will not load previous professional development hours, with the exception of catechist hours.
What if I am missing some of my training and formation on my transcript?
If we did not have a valid email address on file for you then your record could not be automatically synced.
If you created an account and would like your record merged, please use our “Need Help” form found at the top of the page and submit a ticket with the request.
Who do I contact about my certificate progress?
Some courses taken in the last year may not be visible on your Capernaumtranscript.Wewill soon have allyour courses and certificates viewable and printable. What do I do if I forgot my username or password?
If you forget your username or password you can submit a request on the login page of mycapernaum.org.
Clicking the “Forgot Username” link will prompt you to enter your email address to receive your username via email.
Clicking the “Forgot Password” link will also prompt you for your email address. You will be sent a link to reset your password.
I’m a new user, how do I create a new account?
If you do not have a Capernaum account you can create one by going to mycapernaum.org.
Select your preferred language and click the button that says “Create an Account.”
Fill in your contact information and create a “username” which will be your login. Once all items are selected, create a password. See the video “How do I edit the “User Record” section of my profile?” for help in getting your full account set up.

What is the difference between an online course, an Instructor Lead Training (ILT) and a Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)?
An online course is a training that you can take and complete online. These can be simple or complex and may include videos, quizzes, materials, links and various other training items.
ILT stands for Instructor Led Training. These are your live courses which you will register for in Capernaum and attend in-person. When searching for ILT’s, you will find each course listed as an “event.” When you select an event, you will be prompted to register for a particular “session,” which are the individual occurrences of each training event.
VILT stands for Virtual Instructor Led Training. These are like ILT’s only instead of a gathering at a parish or Archdiocesan facility you will gather in a virtual meeting room. You will still search from them as events and register for a session. The difference is that you will login to Capernaum at the time of the training and launch the session right from your transcript or learner home page.
Why was I assigned a training?
There are many reasons you might be assigned a training. A Supervisor may assign a training to a parish or school employee to help you grow in a specific area. You may be automatically assigned a training when you meet certain requirements.
If you feel you have been assigned a training in error, please use the “Need Help” form at the top of this page to submit a request with your concern.
What type of training is available?
Capernaum will initially have approximately 30 courses in three languages (English, Spanish and Vietnamese). Not all programs will be available in all languages.
Over the next year, additional training and formation programs will be available on Capernaum in three languages (English, Spanish, Vietnamese).
Training and formation will be offered by over a dozen different departments of the Archdiocese and the Catholic Schools Office. Different programs will be offered for employees, non-employees, and those serving in a wide variety of ministries.
What do I do if I need help and support?
At the top of this page there is a blue button labeled “Need Help.” Clicking this will take you to an online form in which you can enter your information and a description of your issue or question.
Your request will be directed to the appropriate team in our organization. We will respond as soon as possible during our business hours (8:30 am-4:30 pm CST Monday-Friday) in English but will strive to communicate in Spanish or Vietnamese when possible.

Do I need to disable the pop-up blocker?
Many of the functions in Capernaum will require you to allow pop-up for the website. When editing your user record, or launching certain types of learning objects or courses pop-up windows are used so that you are not taken away from the main page you are working in.
Typically, when a pop-up is blocked you will receive a notification asking you if you would like to allow pop-ups for this site. Select the option to always enable Pop-up for the Capernaum site in order to make your user experience the best is can be.
Each internet browser has its own process for enabling pop-ups for a website. If you are unsure how to do it on your browser perform a quick search using your preferred search engine for how to do so.
What should I do if a course/item is not loading on a mobile device?
Most courses and learning objects in Capernaum should load fine on mobile devices. However, we have found that occasionally an online course will not load properly when using tablets or phones (Specifically Kindle Fire tablets).
If you are experiencing issues when using a mobile device we recommend that you either view the page in desktop mode, or logout and access the course using a desktop or laptop computer.

¿Por qué me asignaron un entrenamiento?

Đâu là sự khác biệt giữa lớp học trên mạng, lớp học mặt đối mặt với vị giảng viên (ILT) và lớp học trực tuyến với vị giảng viên (VILT)?
Lớp học trên mạng có thể là đơn giản và cũng có thể không đơn giản. Những lớp này có thể bao gồm videos, những bài trắc nghiệm, những trang mạng khác và những mục đào tạo khác nhau.
Lớp học mặt đối mặt với vị giảng viên là lớp mà bạn sẽ ghi danh trong Caphanaum. Xin tìm dưới tiêu đề ILT’s, bạn sẽ thấy mỗi lớp được liệt kê như một “sự kiện.” Khi bạn chọn một sự kiện, bạn sẽ được hỏi để ghi danh cho một “khóa” cụ thể, việc ghi danh này là từng lần và cho từng sự kiện.
Lớp học trực tuyến với vị giảng viên là lớp mà bạn không cần phải đến một giáo xứ hoặc một nơi chốn nhất định trong Tổng Giáo Phận, nhưng bạn có thể ở bất cứ nơi nào, đăng nhập và tham dự lớp trên mạng theo đúng giờ mà khóa đã đề ra. Bạn sẽ đăng nhập Caphanaum qua phiếu điểm (transcript) hoặc trang chủ cho người học (learner home page). Với lớp này, bạn vẫn phải ghi danh qua hệ thống Caphanaum.
Tại sao tôi được chỉ định cho một khóa đào tạo?
Có nhiều lý do. Vị Giám Sát có thể chọn một khóa đào tạo tại một giáo xứ hoặc trường học nào đó để giúp bạn phát triển về một khía cạnh cụ thể nào đó. Hoặc khi bạn hội đủ những điều kiện cần, thì hệ thống Caphanaum sẽ tự động chỉ định cho bạn lấy khóa đào tạo nhất định nào đó. Nếu bạn nghĩ sự chỉ định này có sự nhầm lẫn, xin làm ơn điền vào mẫu “Cần Giúp Đỡ” và gửi cho chúng tôi về mối quan tâm của bạn.
Có những khóa đào tạo khác nhau nào?
Caphanaum sẽ bắt đầu với khoảng 30 lớp cho ba ngôn ngữ (tiếng Anh, tiếng Tây Ban Nha, tiếng Việt). Tuy nhiên, không phải tất cả các chương trình đều có với ba ngôn ngữ.
Năm tới, sẽ có thêm những khóa đào tạo trên Caphanaum với ba ngôn ngữ (tiếng Anh, tiếng Tây Ban Nha, tiếng Việt).
Chương trình đào tạo sẽ được cung cấp do trên mười hai văn phòng khác nhau của Tổng Giáo Phận và Văn Phòng các Trường Công Giáo. Nhiều chương trình khác nhau sẽ được tổ chức cho các nhân viên, những người không phải là nhân viên, và những người phục vụ trong những sứ vụ khác nhau.
Khi cần giúp đỡ và hỗ trợ, tôi phải làm gì?

Tôi có cần vô hiệu hóa việc chặn cửa sổ hiện lên không?
Nhiều chức năng trong hệ thống Caphanaum sẽ yêu cầu bạn cho phép cửa sổ hiện lên trang mạng. Khi chỉnh sửa hồ sơ người dùng của bạn, hoặc bắt đầu khởi động một thể loại môn học nhất định nào đó, những cửa sổ hiện lên được dùng để giúp trang mạng chính bạn đang dùng không biến mất.
Thường thường, khi một cửa sổ hiện lên mà bị chặn, một thông tin sẽ hiện lên hỏi bạn muốn những cửa sổ được hiện lên trang mạng này hay không. Xin hãy chọn luôn luôn bật cửa sổ hiện lên cho hệ thống Caphanaum, như thế việc sử dụng hệ thống Caphanaum của bạn sẽ có hiệu quả tốt nhất.

Đa số những môn học trong hệ thống Caphanaum tải lên được trên những thiết bị di động. Tuy nhiên, có những lúc gặp trục trặc khi bạn dùng bảng máy vi tính (tablet) hoặc điện thoại (Đặc biệt là Kindle Fire tablets).
Nếu bạn gặp vấn đề khi dùng thiết bị di động, chúng tôi đề nghị bạn nên mở trang mạng đó trong trạng thái máy vi tính (desktop mode) hoặc đăng xuất và truy nhập môn học bằng cách dùng máy vi tính để bàn hoặc máy vi tính sách tay.
