Located in the sought-after Snedens Landing community in Palisades, New York, this 13-acre estate at 23 Ludlow Lane is asking $28,500,000. While this is undeniably an astounding ask, the Rockland County property transcends the ordinary Hudson Valley spread. I hope the next caretaker will cherish it in the same way.”
Helmed by Chicago-based architect Dirk Denison, the project included restoration of the home’s brick exterior. The surrounding property was upgraded with a sauna, cellar, lounge, and limestone-paved pool surrounded by multi-level gardens.
Down a secluded, winding driveway, Niederhurst offers luxurious amenities seamlessly integrated within a showcase of contemporary design. In addition to a peerless home, the property would be perfect as an event space for hosting weekend getaways and festive or professional gatherings.
Hitting every mark of design and function, the property has retained and enhanced architectural details like original plaster medallions, hand-troweled Venetian plaster walls, oak millwork, and wide-plank, light oak flooring. Painstakingly selected materials include Italian Paonazzo marble in the master bath and Nero Marquina, Blue de Savoie, and Calcutta marble on the gallery floor.
Additional buildings on the estate include Fern Lodge, built in 1866, and The Stable, built in the 1870s. There are several outbuildings including a stone shed and an antique barn.
On the exquisite grounds, you’ll find park-like landscape features like mature English copper beech trees. The stunning elevated pool is set jewel-like into tiered garden beds.
Consisting of about 100 homes with only one access road, the Snedens Landing community is valued for being both remote and just 30 minutes from New York City, as well as being home to many notable residents.
