What are the 5 movie ratings? ›

NC-17 originally stood for "No Children Under 17 Admitted" to combat the misconception that the rating indicated a film was p*rnographic. In 1996, the MPA reworded the NC-17 rating to "No One 17 and Under Admitted", effectively raising the minimum age for admission from 17 to 18.

NC-17. The NC-17 rating is the highest rating (even higher than the R-rating) that a film can be given, and it means the movie is for adults only (ages 18 and older) and no one age 17 or younger will be admitted. This rating, prior to 1990, was previously rated X.

Although the TV-MA rating means a program is technically made for 17-year-olds (18 in some cases), programs with this rating can sometimes be more graphic and severe than what R-rated movies would typically allow, thanks to the existence of premium cable networks and certain online streaming services.

While a 4-star rating may not be as exceptional as a 5-star, it means that the customer had a positive experience and is generally satisfied with the product. Still, there may be some slight adjustments needed. It's a positive rating that implies the customer will likely consider the brand for future purchases.

If a film has not been submitted for a rating or is an uncut version of a film that was submitted, the labels Not Rated (NR) or Unrated (UR) are often used.

Films with the U certification are fit for unrestricted public exhibition and are family-friendly. These films can contain universal themes like education, family, drama, romance, sci-fi, action etc. These films can also contain some mild violence, but it cannot be prolonged.

NR stands for Not Rated. Usually, movies rated NR hasn't submitted for rating. This kind of movies are uncut or have extended scenes that might not be suitable to minors.

In the United States, the film was rated NC-17 for "nudity and erotic sexuality throughout, some graphic language, and sexual violence." Showgirls was the first (and to date only) NC-17-rated film to be given a wide release in mainstream theaters.

Advertising for a film or computer game which is unclassified will have 'Check the Classification' or CTC. You should check the classification closer to the release date of the film or computer game. Once the content is classified, the rating should appear on advertising.

Blonde's NC-17 rating generated a lot of buzz—especially about what it means for the film. The MPA cited “some sexual content” in giving the rating. In February, Blonde director Andrew Dominik told ScreenDaily that the movie will include a “graphic rape scene.” It is also said to feature a vagin*l point-of-view shot.

On the film review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, films that every surveyed critic considered bad have a 0% rating. As of 2023, only 40 films with 20 reviews have received this rating.

A G rating would mean there's no content that parents would be concerned about, a PG rating means there's some content that parents may want to know about, a PG-13 rating indicates there's even more content that families may not find appropriate and R means the film has adult content (same with NC-17).

In India, movies are rated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The rating "S" indicates that the movie contains content that is suitable for a specific audience, usually adults. Some examples of S rated movies in India include "Padmaavat," "Padman," "Lipstick Under My Burkha," and "Udta Punjab.

1 to 5 Numerical Rating Scale. This is a straightforward numeric scale where respondents rate something on a numerical scale from 1 to 5, with 1 representing the lowest or worst option and 5 representing the highest or best option. Such 1 to 5 numeric scales are often used for quick and simple assessments.

TV-MA Mature Audience Only This program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17. This program contains one or more of the following: graphic violence (V), explicit sexual activity (S), or crude indecent language (L).
