Extreme floods could disrupt HIV care by 2025

A recent study reveals a dire situation for HIV care centers worldwide. By 2025, hundreds of HIV clinics could face severe disruptions due to extreme weather events like floods and droughts. These natural disasters pose a dual threat: clinics may lose access to essential medications and electricity, hindering their ability to provide care. The study identifies nearly 690 clinics as moderately to highly vulnerable to both floods and droughts, with Mozambique and South Africa bearing the brunt of this risk. Southern Africa, in particular, houses the highest concentration of these vulnerable clinics.
